JULIAN HUGHES Managing Director BSc., MSc., CGeol., Eur Geol., CSci., FGS

Julian joined GIP over 24 years ago, with a degree in Geology and was awarded an MSc in Geotechnical Engineering in 1990.

He is responsible for the two teams of geo environmental engineers, as well as managing the drilling programme. Julian's areas of specialist expertise are slope stability assessment and the design of remedial solutions. He also has extensive experience in contaminated land and groundwater risk assessment. He is a Chartered Geologist and a Chartered Scientist, and regularly acts as professional scrutineer on behalf of The Geological Society to applicants applying for Chartered Status .


Julian recently became the first recipient of the Midland Geotechnical Society's Les Nichol Award for contributions to geotechnical engineering. More details can be found at Midland Geotechnical Society - Les Nichol Award.
