Management Team

THE MANAGEMENT TEAM

Our three teams of geologists are managed by one of our senior managers, who are responsible for the day-to-day running of a project. All three management geologists have been with GIP for a number of years and are fully conversant in the methods and ethos of the company.

ANDREW McHUGH BSc., MSc., CGeol., FGS
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

With a degree in Geological Sciences from Leeds University and an MSc in Foundation Engineering from Birmingham University, Andy's areas of specialist experience are groundwater remediation strategies, contaminated land and landfill gas assessment. He has been a valued member of the GIP team since joining us as a graduate engineer in 1995.

During his career with GIP, Andy has worked on a wide range of projects, producing factual and interpretative reports, designing, implementing and supervising geotechnical and geoenvironmental site investigations and producing desk studies.

CHRIS BULLAS BSc., CGeol., FGS
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

Chris joined the GIP team in 1992 and has a range of experience from the design and supervision of ground investigations to the management of slope stability projects and underpinning remedial schemes on residential properties.

He has a first degree in Geology and is a Fellow of the Geological Society of London and a Chartered Geologist.

Chris's main areas of specialism are landfill monitoring and contaminated land risk assessment and remediation planning.

PAUL SMART BTEC HNC Environmental Science
LABORATORY QUALITY MANAGER

Paul joined the GIP lab team in 1991 and has in recent years played a large part in our UKAS accreditation and quality audits.

Having acted as Senior Technician and then Laboratory Supervisor he was recently promoted to Laboratory Quality Manager. He is responsible for a team of 8 technicians.

Paul's main area of specialism is ensuring the effectiveness and continual improvement of the management system.
